Cran-Orange-Apple Sauce

2 cups sugar
3 whole cloves
1/2 cup water
1 orange, chopped with skin and pulp 
1 2-inch cinnamon stick
4 cups cranberries
1 apple, peeled and chopped 
1/2 cup brandy 

Combine sugar, cloves, water, cinnamon and orange. Boil for 5 to 10 minutes. Drop cranberries and apple into this syrup. Cook until cranberries pop. Remove from heat, let cool, and add brandy. Chill before serving. Freezes well
