Nougat Squares
3-tbsp butter or margarine
1-jar (7 ounces) marshmallow cream
4-cups puffed corn cereal
1/2-cup flaked coconut
1/4-cup ground almonds
1/2-tsp salt
1-cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Lightly grease a 9-inch square pan. In the top of a double boiler over simmering water, melt the butter with the marshmallow cream, stirring until smooth. Remove from the heat. Add the cereal, coconut, almonds, and salt. Press evenly onto the bottom of the prepared pan. In the top of a double broiler over simmering water, melt the chocolate chips, stirring until smooth. Spread evenly over the top of the mixture in the pan. Chill for 1 hour or until set. Cut into bars. Yield: 1 1/2 pounds.
