Potatoes a la Julie

4 med, Yukon Gold or Red potatoes, scrubbed
1 lb ground sirloin
1 sm. onion, chopped
2 stalks of celery, chopped
2-3 cloves garlic, minced
6 slices of bacon, diced
1 can tomatoe sauce
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tbsp brown sugar
salt & pepper to taste
1 cup grated cheddar cheese
Slice potatoes 1/2" thick, set aside. In a large skillet, cook bacon until
crispy. Remove bacon & drain on paper towels, set aside. Grain off all but 2
tbsp of fat & sauté' the onions & celery for 5 minutes, then add the
garlic, potatoes, ground sirloin, salt & pepper. Cook, breaking up meat until
thoroughly cooked & potatoes are brown.
Combine tomatoe sauce, water, brown sugar & Worcestershire sauce & add
to skillet.Simmer, covered for 10 minutes. Uncover & top with grated cheese
& sprinkle with the bacon, if desired.
