Soupe au pain
(Bread soup)
Remove some of the saltiness by boiling salt pork in a small amount of water for several minutes. Drain, fry up salt pork.
Add onion and fry until golden.
Cut bread into small pieces, add to pot and fry.
Add broth and salted herbs. Bring to a boil.
Add milk and seasonings.
Remove from heat, let rest several minutes before serving.
Variation: You can also add the bread directly to the broth without frying and / or replace all or part of the broth with milk.
