DOUGHNUTS:
2 c. Bisquick
1/4 c. sugar
1 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 c. sour cream
1 egg, slightly beaten
COATING:
1/2 c. sugar and 1 tsp. cinnamon, mixed
4 tbsp. butter, melted
ALTERNATE GLAZE:
1 c. confectioners' sugar
1 tbsp. milk
1/2 tsp. vanilla
Mix together, adding 1 teaspoon milk at a time until desired consistency.
Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
Mix all doughnut ingredients together until soft dough forms. Gently smooth
dough into ball on floured cloth-covered board. Knead 10 times. Roll 1/2 inch
thick. Cut with floured 2 1/2 inch doughnut cutter. Lift CAREFULLY with spatula
and place about 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake until golden
brown, 8 to 10 minutes.
Immediately brush entire doughnut with melted butter; dip in cinnamon sugar,
coating all sides. Or, if desired, spread with glaze. Serve warm. Makes 10- 12.
NOTE: If using glaze, you can sprinkle glaze with chopped nuts, chocolate
or multi-colored sprinkles or toasted coconut.
