Banana And Pineapple Coffee Cake

1/2 cup butter or margarine
2/3 cup sugar
2 eggs
2 cups flour
1 teaspoon salt
3/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1 cup bananas mashed ripe
1 15-ounce can crushed pineapple well drained
1/2 cup pecans chopped
8 red maraschino cherries halved (optional)
Heat oven to 350° F. Cream butter or margarine and sugar until light and fluffy; add eggs and mix well. Combine flour, salt, baking soda, and baking powder; blend into sugar mixture. Stir in banana, pineapple, and nuts. Pour into greased and floured 8 x 8-inch baking dish. Place optional cherries on top with cut side down and bake for 40 to 50 minutes or until tests done.
