Honey-Soy Marinated Flank Steak

From Sara Moulton and Gourmet Magazine-GMA Recipes

This is one of the classiest dishes you can make on the grill.

Honey-soy marinated flank steak is delicious and it's rather simple to prepare. Keep in mind that the meat needs to marinate. Which means you need to prepare the steak one day before you plan to grill it.

Ingredients

1-2 lb. flank steak
1 onion, quartered
3 garlic cloves
1-inch cube of peeled fresh ginger root
Jalapeno pepper (optional)
1/4 Cup soy sauce
1/4 Cup honey
2 tablespoons peanut or vegetable oil

Marinade Preparation:
In a food processor, puree the onion, garlic, ginger root and pepper.

Add the soy sauce, honey and the oil and blend the mixture until it is all combined.

Flank Steak Preparation:

Go to a good butcher or store you trust for one flank steak that weighs in between one and two pounds.

Coat the flank steak with the marinade and enclose it in a plastic bag. Let the flank steak marinate overnight. Before you grill the flank steak, let it sit at room temperature for three to four hours.

Grill the flank steak on each side for five to six minutes on each side and baste it several times with the marinade.

Serves four to six of your guests, depending on the size of the portions you dish out.
